The CFD provider Plus500 already announced towards the end of August 2015 that it will be the new main sponsor in football for Atletico Madrid from Spain. The sponsorship will cover the 2015 and 2016 seasons as well as 2016 and 2017. Numerous press releases have already been published on the partnership between the top Spanish league club and the CFD’s finance company.
One of Plus500’s goals is to increase its identity with the Plus500 brand through sponsorship, which has led to the creation of its own campaigns with the football players. For this own a Werbesport with the football players was produced, which is to be seen e.g. over Internet. The sport can also be seen on television via the TV channel Eurosport.
Good business results for the current year 2015 at Plus500
Almost at the same time as the announcement that Atletico Madrid was sponsored, Plus 500 announced its business results for the first half of 2015. Turnover increased significantly by a total of around 20% to 127 million US dollars. In the first half of 204, turnover in this period was still 106.2 million US dollars. However, net income fell by approximately 25% from $53.8 million in 2014 to $40.6 million in 2015, from $95.5 million in 2014, which was lower than $115.2 million in 2014.
Positive, however, was that the number of active customers increased from 67,232 in the first half of 2014 to a total of 93,267. The number of new customers also increased by around 60% year-on-year. It should be mentioned that around 65% of online customers do not work on a desktop PC, but are also active with mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets at Plus 500. This gives an indication of how the further development in the area of online trading is progressing and mobile solutions are becoming increasingly popular. Merger between Plus500 and Playtec PLC
